Description

The Amas is a 335mm outdoor wall light with two E27 bulb sockets housed in separate clear glass cylinders at the top and bottom of a graphite aluminium body. The up-down configuration casts light both above and below the fitting, creating wall-wash effects on exterior walls while providing functional pathway and entrance illumination.

Designed for UK residential exteriors including porches, front doors, garage walls and patio spaces, the fitting carries an IP54 rating for protection against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction. The 80mm backplate mounts to standard outdoor electrical boxes and the aluminium body withstands British weather year-round without corroding. The clear glass cylinders allow full visibility of the bulb filaments when lit, so pairing the fitting with decorative E27 LED filament bulbs (sold separately) creates visual interest after dark.

The graphite finish is a mid-tone grey with a slight metallic sheen that reads darker in shadow and lighter under direct sun. The finish pairs with anthracite windows, grey render, and natural stone without clashing, and provides visual contrast against white, cream or red brick. Each glass cylinder is open at the outer end, allowing heat from the bulbs to dissipate naturally rather than being trapped inside the fitting. The 135mm width keeps the fitting narrow enough for installation on pillar walls and narrow porch surrounds where wider fixtures would overhang.

The Amas takes two standard E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are not included. Most users pair this with warm-white LED filament bulbs between 4-8W and 2700K for decorative exterior lighting.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

The IP54 rating protects against water splashing and dust, and the aluminium body resists corrosion better than steel fixtures. However, in direct coastal exposure with salt spray, regular cleaning and inspection is recommended to maintain the finish.

Can it be installed under a soffit or overhang?

Yes. The IP54 rating is suitable for sheltered and exposed positions. Installing under a porch soffit or overhang provides additional protection from direct rain and extends the lifespan of the finish.

Does the glass need to be removed to change bulbs?

The glass cylinders are open at the outer ends, allowing bulbs to be changed by reaching into the cylinder from above or below without removing any glass components.
