Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch with 13A socket combines a double-pole isolation switch rated at 45A with a separate 13A switched socket outlet, both behind a polished brass screwless faceplate with a white insert. Red neon indicators on both switches light up when the circuits are live, providing at-a-glance confirmation of the power state.

Designed for installation within 2m of a cooker or range, the 45A switch isolates the appliance circuit for safe maintenance and cleaning, preventing accidental operation while the cooker is out of use. The separate 13A socket supplies small kitchen appliances — kettles, toasters, slow cookers — without needing a separate outlet installed nearby. Both switches are double-pole, isolating both live and neutral lines when switched off.

The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, hiding all fixings behind the polished brass face. The white insert behind the brass faceplate frames each switch and socket aperture, creating defined edges and providing contrast against the warm metallic finish. The unit requires a 47mm minimum back box depth and measures 147.5mm wide by 87.5mm high once installed, fitting standard UK wiring regulations for cooker control units.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between the 45A switch and the 13A socket?

The 45A switch controls the cooker or range circuit, rated to handle up to 10,350W of load at 230V. The 13A socket is a separate outlet rated at 3,120W, designed for small kitchen appliances like kettles and toasters. Both switches are double-pole and isolate live and neutral when switched off.

What does the neon indicator show?

Each switch has a small red neon that illuminates when the circuit is live. This provides at-a-glance confirmation that power is flowing to the cooker or socket, even if the appliance itself is not currently drawing current.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed to accommodate the wiring terminals and switching mechanism. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Can this control two separate cooking appliances?

Yes. The 45A switch can control two or more cooking appliances wired on the same circuit, provided the combined load does not exceed the 45A rating. For example, a cooker and separate hob can both be isolated by this single switch if wired to the same cooker circuit.
