Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch and 13A socket combines a 45-amp double-pole isolator for a cooker circuit with a standard 13A switched socket in a single polished brass flat plate. The 45A switch features neon indicators that confirm power status, while the 13A socket adds an auxiliary outlet suitable for small kitchen appliances such as kettles, toasters or food processors within reach of the cooker position.

Designed for kitchens where Building Regulations require an accessible isolator within 2 metres of the cooker, this unit allows an electric cooker or hob to be safely isolated for cleaning or maintenance without requiring access to the consumer unit. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, preventing accidental activation during servicing. The 13A socket operates independently of the 45A switch, so auxiliary appliances can be used even when the cooker circuit is isolated.

The flat plate sits just 2.5mm proud of the wall surface once fitted to a 47mm minimum back box, giving a low-profile finish suited to modern kitchens. The polished brass faceplate with black insert provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with traditional brass cabinet hardware, aged brass taps and warm-toned stone worktops. The premium-grade steel construction behind the plate carries a 25-year warranty against manufacturing defects, and the plate is IP20 rated for standard indoor kitchen installation.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The flat plate adds only 2.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a low-profile finish.

Do the 45A switch and 13A socket operate independently?

Yes. The 45A switch controls the cooker circuit only. The 13A socket operates independently, so auxiliary appliances can be used even when the cooker circuit is isolated via the 45A switch.

What do the neon indicators show?

The neon indicators on the 45A switch confirm when power is flowing to the cooker circuit. When the switch is in the 'on' position and the circuit is live, the neon glows. When the switch is off, the neon is dark.

Is this suitable for induction hobs?

The 45A rating handles loads up to 10,350W on a 230V circuit, which covers most domestic electric cookers and induction hobs. Check the appliance nameplate rating before specifying to ensure the load does not exceed 45A.
