Description

The Knightsbridge 45A cooker connection unit provides a dedicated high-current connection point for electric cookers, ovens and hobs, rated to BS 5733 for safe switching and isolation of 45A loads on 230V circuits. The white square edge faceplate is moulded from thermoset resin with anti-microbial properties tested to ISO 22196:2011, inhibiting bacterial growth on the surface.

Designed for kitchen and utility room installation behind or adjacent to the cooker position, the unit allows the appliance to be safely isolated without needing to switch off the entire circuit at the consumer unit. The concealed fixing design hides mounting screws behind removable screw cap covers once installed. The terminal block inside accepts large-gauge cable with clamp fittings, and a bottom knockout allows the outgoing cable to drop down to the cooker position below.

The 86mm x 86mm faceplate sits flush on a standard UK single-gang back box with a minimum 35mm depth, projecting 23mm from the wall once fitted. The square edge profile gives a clean, defined perimeter where the faceplate meets the wall, suiting modern and contemporary kitchen finishes. The IP20 rating makes this suitable for dry indoor locations only — not for outdoor or wet-room use.

Frequently Asked

What appliances can this connection unit supply?

This 45A unit is designed for electric cookers, ovens, and hobs drawing up to 10.35kW on a 230V circuit. It must be installed on a dedicated cooker circuit with appropriate cable sizing and circuit protection — consult a qualified electrician before installation.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed. Standard UK single-gang metal back boxes of 35mm or 47mm depth are both suitable.

What does the anti-microbial property do?

The thermoset resin faceplate is treated with an anti-microbial additive tested to ISO 22196:2011, which inhibits bacterial growth on the surface. This is particularly useful in kitchen environments where the switch may be touched with food residue on hands.

Can the screw heads be hidden?

Yes. The unit includes screw cap covers that clip over the fixing screws once the faceplate is mounted, giving a concealed-fixing appearance from the front.
