Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang under-cabinet socket mounts on the underside of wall cabinets or onto worktop surfaces, providing dual 13A outlets with dual-pole switching. The stainless steel faceplate has a brushed finish with a grey insert behind the outlet apertures, and the rocker switches are finished in matching metal.

Designed for kitchen worktops, bedroom furniture, utility rooms and hospitality environments, the socket sits 77mm tall by 212mm wide and projects 77mm from the mounting surface when installed. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety for appliances left plugged in. The surface-mount construction means no back box is needed — the socket fixes directly to the underside of a cabinet or onto a wall or worktop with screws.

The stainless steel construction is built from premium-grade steel and carries an IP20 rating, meaning it is suitable for dry indoor environments but not for locations exposed to water spray or steam. The grey insert provides contrast behind the outlet apertures and rocker switches, making the socket easier to locate under a dark cabinet or in low-light conditions. The earth terminal is present for Class I appliances.

Does this need a back box?

No. The socket is surface-mount and fixes directly to the underside of a cabinet or onto a wall or worktop surface using screws. No recessed back box is required.

Can it be used in a bathroom or kitchen splashback area?

No. The IP20 rating means the socket is suitable for dry indoor environments only. It is not rated for use in bathrooms or areas exposed to water spray, steam or high humidity.

What does dual-pole switching mean?

Dual-pole switching isolates both the live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety compared to single-pole switching which only isolates the live. This is useful for appliances left plugged in when not in use.

How is it mounted?

The socket fixes with screws through mounting points on the rear casing. It can be mounted on the underside of wall cabinets, onto a worktop surface, or onto a wall. The cable entry is designed to accept standard UK 2.5mm² twin and earth cable.
