Description

The Knightsbridge LEDM08W1 is a 1.7W LED recessed ground light built into a 110mm diameter 316 stainless steel bezel with an opal diffuser covering an integrated LED module. The fitting projects just 5mm above the installation surface with a recessed depth of 47mm, making it one of the shallowest drive-over ground lights available. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, allowing installation in outdoor decking, driveways, patios and garden pathways.

Designed for both ground and vertical surface mounting, the fitting suits decking boards, resin-bound gravel, paving slabs, concrete driveways and interior floors where low-level accent or pathway lighting is needed. The drive-over rating of 1000kg at 5mph allows vehicle access across domestic driveways without damaging the fitting. The 4000K cool white LED produces 90 lumens with a 105° beam angle, providing a neutral white wash across the surrounding surface rather than a narrow spotlight effect.

The 316-grade stainless steel bezel resists corrosion in coastal and high-moisture environments better than standard 304 stainless, making it suitable for seafront properties and areas exposed to de-icing salts. The fitting arrives pre-wired with 2.5m of outdoor-rated flex terminated in a junction box, allowing connection to mains supply without needing to strip or crimp cables on-site. An optional thermoplastic sleeve increases protection during installation and spreads load forces across the cut-out perimeter.

The LED module is rated for 60,000 hours L70B50 lifespan, meaning 70% of the initial lumen output is maintained at 60,000 hours under typical operating conditions. The fitting operates on 230V 50Hz mains and is non-dimmable. The opal diffuser softens the LED point source into an even glow that minimises glare when viewed from standing height.

What cut-out size is required?

A 90mm diameter cut-out is required for the fitting alone. If using the optional thermoplastic sleeve, increase the cut-out to 97mm diameter. The recessed depth of 47mm means you need at least 50mm of substrate thickness beneath the installation surface.

Can vehicles drive over this fitting?

Yes. The fitting is rated for vehicle loads up to 1000kg at speeds up to 5mph, making it suitable for domestic driveways where cars park or manoeuvre slowly. Higher speeds or heavier vehicles may damage the bezel or diffuser.

Is the fitting dimmable?

No. The integrated LED operates on 230V mains at full output and cannot be dimmed. If dimmable ground lights are needed, consider a GU10 or MR16 version that accepts external dimmer-compatible bulbs.

What colour is the light?

The LED produces 4000K cool white light, which appears neutral white with a slight blue tint compared to warm white bulbs. This colour temperature suits contemporary exterior schemes and complements natural stone, grey decking and modern paving.
