Description
The Mercury 600mA switch-mode power supply delivers adjustable DC output between 3V and 12V at a maximum 7.2W draw, with eight interchangeable barrel plugs covering the most common sizes for small consumer electronics. The switch-mode topology regulates voltage under load more efficiently than linear transformers, reducing heat output and mains consumption whilst maintaining stable voltage at the device end.
Designed for powering routers, CCTV cameras, small radios, handheld gaming consoles, portable speakers and similar low-draw devices, the PSU accepts 100-240V AC mains input at 50/60Hz, making it compatible with UK, European and worldwide mains voltages when used with the appropriate plug adaptor. The output current holds at 600mA across all seven voltage settings (3V, 4.5V, 5V, 6V, 7.5V, 9V, 12V), selected by a rotary switch on the body. The included DC barrel plugs span 3.5mm jack, 2.35 x 0.75mm, 3.5 x 1.35mm, 4 x 1.7mm, 5 x 2.1mm, 5.5 x 2.1mm, 5.5 x 2.5mm, and 6.3 x 3mm outer/inner diameters.
The compact 41 x 64 x 51mm body weighs 120g and fits behind furniture, inside AV racks, or in travel bags without adding bulk. The UK three-pin plug is non-folding but protrudes only minimally from a wall socket. Switch-mode efficiency reduces standby draw and running temperature compared to older linear power supplies, which matters when the PSU is left plugged in continuously to power always-on devices like security cameras or network equipment.

Frequently Asked
What devices can this power supply run?
The PSU suits low-power devices drawing up to 600mA at any of the seven voltage settings. Common uses include routers, CCTV cameras, portable radios, handheld gaming consoles, and small speakers. Check your device's power rating before connecting — if it requires more than 600mA or operates outside the 3-12V range, this PSU is not suitable.
How do I select the correct voltage?
A rotary switch on the body lets you select between 3V, 4.5V, 5V, 6V, 7.5V, 9V, and 12V. Set the switch to match your device's required input voltage before plugging in. Using the wrong voltage may damage the device or cause it to fail to power on.
Which DC plug do I use?
The PSU includes eight barrel plugs with different outer and inner diameters. Match the plug size to your device's DC input socket — most consumer electronics mark the required size near the socket or in the manual. The 5.5 x 2.1mm and 5.5 x 2.5mm plugs are the most widely used.
Can I leave it plugged in continuously?
Yes. The switch-mode design keeps standby consumption and heat output low, making it safe to leave connected for always-on devices like security cameras or network equipment. The PSU incorporates short-circuit and overload protection.
