Description

The LYYT twin LED floodlight combines two 3W COB LED heads with a PIR motion sensor in a battery-powered housing rated IP44 for outdoor use. The PIR sensor detects movement up to 10 metres away across a 120° coverage angle, activating both LED heads when motion is detected. Each head produces 200 lumens of 6500K daylight-white light and can be rotated independently to direct illumination where it's needed.

Designed for locations without mains power access — garages, sheds, driveways, side passages, garden gates — the fitting runs on 6x AA batteries (sold separately) and mounts to any flat surface using the included bracket and fixings. The delay time is adjustable between 10 and 60 seconds, allowing the light to stay on long enough for someone to reach a door or complete a task before switching off automatically. Sensitivity can also be adjusted to reduce false triggering from passing wildlife or wind-blown foliage.

The twin-head configuration provides broader coverage than single-head PIR lights, reducing shadows when someone approaches from an angle. The IP44 rating protects the electronics and battery compartment from rain and dust, making the fitting suitable for exposed wall mounting in UK weather. The black thermoplastic housing measures 240 x 170 x 220mm and weighs 610g when empty, light enough to mount on timber outbuilding walls without additional reinforcement.

How long do the batteries last?

Battery life depends on the number of activations per day and the delay time setting. With typical domestic use (10-20 activations per day at 30-second delay), a set of quality alkaline AA batteries can last 3-6 months. High-capacity rechargeable NiMH batteries are also compatible.

Can the sensor sensitivity be adjusted?

Yes. The PIR sensor includes an adjustable sensitivity control to reduce false triggering from small animals, wind-blown vegetation, or passing vehicle headlights. This can be set during installation to suit the specific location.

Is it suitable for coastal or very wet locations?

The IP44 rating protects against rain and splashing from any direction, making it suitable for standard UK outdoor use including exposed walls. It is not rated for submersion or continuous heavy spray. Coastal installations may benefit from periodic checks of the battery compartment seal.

Can the light heads be angled independently?

Yes. Each LED head rotates on a ball-joint mount, allowing you to aim one head at a door or keyhole and the other towards a path or driveway entrance. This provides better coverage than a fixed twin-head configuration.
