Knightsbridge CWL1 3W LED Outdoor Wall Light - Polished Chrome IP44

The Knightsbridge CWL1 is a 3W LED outdoor wall light with a vertical cylinder design in polished chrome, housing an integrated warm white 3000K LED behind an opal acrylic diffuser. The fitting measures 252.5mm tall by 100mm wide with a 115mm projection from the wall, and carries an IP44 rating for protection against splashing water from any direction.

Designed for sheltered outdoor positions such as beside front doors, on porch walls, flanking garage entrances or along covered walkways, the CWL1 provides low-level accent lighting at 170 lumens rather than security-grade floodlighting. The Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required during installation, simplifying wiring on masonry walls where an earth may not be readily available.

The polished chrome finish gives high reflectivity under daylight and suits both modern and traditional building exteriors where a bright metallic accent is wanted. The opal diffuser prevents direct view of the LED chip and softens the 3000K output into an even wash of warm white light. The pressed steel body and acrylic diffuser combine light weight with weather resistance, keeping the total fitting weight manageable for single-screw fixings on rendered or brick walls.

The integrated 3W LED is non-dimmable and non-replaceable, with a rated lifespan typical of modern integrated LED wall lights. At 45.3lm/W efficacy and a CRI of over 80, the light source renders colours accurately enough for residential outdoor use without the higher efficacy or colour rendering needed for commercial or retail applications.

What does the IP44 rating mean?

IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction. The CWL1 is suitable for sheltered outdoor positions such as covered porches, canopies and door surrounds, but should not be installed in fully exposed positions subject to driving rain or direct hose-down.

Can the LED be replaced?

No. The 3W LED is integrated into the fitting and non-replaceable. The rated lifespan of the LED is typical of modern integrated wall lights, usually 20,000-30,000 hours depending on operating conditions.

Is it bright enough for security lighting?

At 170 lumens, the CWL1 is designed as accent lighting rather than security-grade illumination. It provides enough light to define an entrance or highlight architectural features, but for security applications a higher-lumen PIR-activated floodlight would be more appropriate.

Does it require an earth connection?

No. The Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is needed during installation, which simplifies wiring on outdoor walls where an earth may not be readily available at the mounting position.
