Description
The Knightsbridge JB0010BK is a weatherproof outdoor enclosure moulded from impact-resistant black polycarbonate, measuring 274 x 184 x 135mm (W x H x D). The enclosure carries IP66 and IK06 ratings, protecting internal connections against dust ingress and high-pressure water jets from any direction, while withstanding impact forces up to 1 joule. Multiple pre-formed cable gland entry points on the sides and base allow cables to enter the box at different angles depending on installation context.
Designed for outdoor electrical installations where junction boxes, terminal blocks, relays or small control gear need protection from rain, snow and mechanical damage, the enclosure suits garden lighting installations, CCTV camera junctions, gate automation wiring, exterior sensor connections and weatherproofed power distribution in commercial and residential settings. The box is rated for voltages up to 230V AC 50Hz and carries Class II insulation, meaning it does not require an earth connection to the enclosure itself.
The polycarbonate construction resists UV degradation better than standard ABS enclosures, maintaining structural integrity and colour stability when wall-mounted in direct sunlight. The lid secures with four corner screws recessed into the moulding, and an internal silicone gasket compressed between lid and base provides the IP66 seal. The black finish reduces visual prominence on dark walls, brickwork and timber posts. Internal dimensions provide approximately 260 x 170 x 125mm of usable space once the gasket compression and screw bosses are accounted for.

Frequently Asked
What does IP66 mean in practical terms?
IP66 means the enclosure is fully dust-tight (the first 6) and protected against high-pressure water jets from any direction (the second 6). This makes it suitable for outdoor installation in exposed positions where rain, snow and hose-down washing might occur. It does not mean the box is submersible — for that you would need IP67 or IP68.
How many cable entries does it have?
The enclosure has multiple pre-formed cable gland entry points moulded into the sides and base. These are knock-out points that can be drilled or punched out to accept standard gland fittings. The exact number and position are shown in the product manual linked above.
Can it be used for mains voltage wiring?
Yes. The enclosure is rated for voltages up to 230V AC 50Hz and carries Class II insulation. It is commonly used for junction boxes, outdoor socket back-boxes, lighting control gear and similar mains-voltage applications in gardens, car parks and building exteriors.
Does the polycarbonate degrade in sunlight?
Polycarbonate resists UV degradation better than standard ABS plastic enclosures. The material maintains structural integrity and colour stability when wall-mounted in direct sunlight for extended periods, though like all polymers it will eventually show some surface chalking after many years of continuous UV exposure.
