Description

The Knightsbridge BA02S1MB is an IP44-rated bathroom wall light with a single G9 bulb fitting behind a cylindrical frosted glass diffuser, mounted on an adjustable matt black steel arm. The head rotates 350° and tilts 90°, allowing the light to be directed towards a mirror, basin or into the room as needed. A pull cord on the backplate switches the light on and off without needing wall controls.

Designed for bathrooms, ensuite shower rooms and WCs, the IP44 rating provides protection against water splashes from any direction, making the fitting suitable for zones 2 and 3 in UK bathroom regulations. The 123mm projection from the wall positions the light far enough forward to act as task lighting over a basin or alongside a mirror, while the adjustable head compensates for varying mirror heights and basin positions. The pull cord eliminates the need for a separate wall switch, which is useful in smaller bathrooms or where switch positions conflict with tiling or mirror placement.

The matt black finish is applied to pressed steel construction, giving a durable surface that resists fingerprints and pairs well with black tapware, black-framed mirrors and dark-toned tile grout. The frosted glass diffuser softens the output from the G9 bulb (sold separately), reducing glare when the light is angled towards a mirror and providing even illumination across a basin area. The fitting accepts halogen or LED G9 bulbs up to 25W, with dimmability depending on the bulb selected.

Can this be used in a bathroom shower area?

The IP44 rating makes the fitting suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 under UK regulations. Zone 2 is the area directly above a bath or shower to a height of 2.25m. Zone 3 is anywhere outside zones 0, 1 and 2, to a distance of 2.4m from the bath or shower. The fitting is not rated for zone 0 or 1 (inside the shower enclosure or directly above a bath).

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a single G9 capsule bulb up to 25W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a 3-5W LED G9 bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for bathroom task lighting. Halogen G9 bulbs are also compatible but generate more heat.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmability depends on the G9 bulb fitted. If using an LED G9, check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility. Halogen G9 bulbs are typically dimmable with standard trailing-edge dimmers.

Can the head be locked in position once adjusted?

The head rotates and tilts on a friction joint. Once positioned, it holds angle under its own friction. If the joint loosens over time, tightening the mounting screw on the arm can increase resistance.
