Description
The ESP Nighthawk Plus is a 50W LED security floodlight with an integrated PIR motion sensor rated at IP65 for outdoor installation. The textured diffuser panel spreads 4000 lumens of 4000K neutral white light across driveways, paths, gardens and building perimeters when motion is detected within the 110° detection zone, up to 8 metres from the fitting.
The PIR sensor triggers a pre-set 150-second activation period when motion is detected, then switches the floodlight off to save energy. An auto lux control prevents the sensor triggering during daylight hours, while a manual override function allows the light to be held on continuously when needed for maintenance, outdoor activities or emergency lighting. The sensor, activation period and lux threshold are all pre-configured — no adjustment controls are visible on the unit.
The floodlight body is a black powder-coated aluminium frame with a textured polycarbonate diffuser that softens the LED output and resists impact better than glass. The adjustable mounting bracket allows the light to be angled up, down or sideways once fixed to a wall, fence post or under-eave position. A 1-metre power cord terminates inside the unit, requiring hard-wired connection to mains supply via a junction box or fused spur.
Dimensions are 216mm H x 186mm W x 24mm D excluding the bracket. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exposed positions including coastal areas subject to rain-driven wind.

Frequently Asked
How is the floodlight wired?
The fitting has a 1-metre power cord that terminates inside the unit. It requires hard-wired connection to mains 230V supply via a junction box or fused spur. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
Can the PIR sensitivity or timer be adjusted?
No. The PIR sensor has a fixed 110° detection angle, 8-metre range and 150-second activation period. These settings are pre-configured by the manufacturer and cannot be adjusted on the unit itself.
What does the manual override function do?
The manual override allows the floodlight to be held on continuously, bypassing the PIR sensor. This is useful for maintenance work, outdoor events, or situations where constant illumination is needed rather than motion-triggered lighting.
Can it be mounted on a fence post or only on a wall?
The adjustable bracket can be fixed to any stable vertical surface including walls, fence posts, or under-eave soffits. The mounting holes accept standard fixings and the bracket allows the light to be angled once installed.
