Description

The ESP Nighthawk Plus is a 20W LED security floodlight with an integrated PIR motion sensor built into the front face of the unit. The sensor detects movement across a 110° arc up to 8 metres away and triggers the 1600-lumen LED panel for a pre-set 150-second activation period. The floodlight operates on 230V mains via a 1m power cord and carries IP65 ingress protection for permanent outdoor installation.

Designed for residential driveways, side passages, rear gardens, garage forecourts and commercial car parks, the floodlight mounts via an adjustable bracket that allows the head to be angled after installation. The automatic lux control prevents the light from triggering during daylight, conserving energy by only activating the LED after dusk. A manual override function allows the light to be switched to constant-on when required, bypassing the PIR sensor.

The matt black die-cast metal housing resists corrosion in outdoor conditions and the textured polycarbonate diffuser spreads the 4000K cool white light evenly across the detection zone. The compact 117mm x 101mm face fits neatly above doorways, on wall brackets and under eaves without requiring a large mounting surface. At 0.335kg the unit can be fixed to masonry, rendered block or timber cladding using the supplied fixings.

The 4000K colour temperature produces a neutral white light that renders colours accurately under outdoor security lighting, making it suitable for CCTV coverage zones where accurate colour identification matters. The 1600-lumen output is equivalent to a traditional 150W halogen floodlight but draws only 20W, reducing running costs and heat output.

Can the PIR sensitivity and timer be adjusted?

The detection angle is fixed at 110° with an 8m range, and the activation period is pre-set to 150 seconds. These settings cannot be adjusted on this model. The automatic lux control can be overridden using the manual override function to keep the light on constantly.

What is the IP65 rating?

IP65 means the floodlight is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. It is rated for permanent outdoor installation in rain, snow and coastal environments, but should not be submerged or subjected to high-pressure washing.

Can it be mounted upside down or sideways?

The adjustable bracket allows the floodlight head to be angled after mounting, so it can be fixed to walls, soffits or eaves and then tilted to direct light downwards. The PIR sensor is most effective when the unit is mounted 2-3 metres above ground level with the sensor facing the detection zone.

What's the lifespan of the integrated LED?

The LED is integrated and not user-replaceable. Typical LED lifespan for this type of security floodlight is 25,000-30,000 hours, equivalent to approximately 10 years of typical outdoor security use (3-4 hours per night average activation).
