Description

The Luminex is a 100mm cubic surface-mounted LED downlight in matt black powder-coated aluminium, housing an integrated 10W 3000K LED behind a polished opal polycarbonate diffuser. The cube mounts directly to the ceiling surface rather than recessing into the void, making it suitable for solid concrete ceilings, timber-framed ceilings with no access above, and retrofit installations where cutting a ceiling aperture is not practical.

Designed for hallways, corridors, home offices and retail spaces requiring directed ceiling lighting without recessing, the downlight casts a narrow beam of warm white light onto the floor or workspace below. The 3000K colour temperature sits at the warmer end of neutral white, working well in residential interiors and hospitality settings where softer light is preferred over clinical cool-white. The IP20 rating confines the fitting to dry indoor use only.

The matt black powder coat on the aluminium body resists scratching and fingerprints during installation, and the minimal cubic form sits flush to the ceiling with approximately 100mm projection below the surface. The magnetic fixing system inside the housing allows the diffuser cover to be removed for cleaning or LED replacement without tools. At 10W draw the LED runs cooler and uses less energy than equivalent halogen downlights, and Ideal Lux back the fitting with a five-year warranty covering the LED module and driver.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the downlight is suitable for dry indoor locations only and must not be installed in bathrooms, kitchens over sinks, or other areas where moisture is present.

Does it require access above the ceiling?

No. The Luminex is surface-mounted directly to the ceiling, so no ceiling void or aperture cutting is required. This makes it ideal for solid concrete ceilings and retrofit installations where recessed fittings are not practical.

Is the LED replaceable?

The LED module is integrated into the fitting. The magnetic diffuser cover can be removed for cleaning, and while the LED is technically replaceable by an electrician, the five-year warranty typically outlasts the LED lifespan in normal residential use.
