How the Maytoni magnetic track system works

A Maytoni magnetic track is a continuous rail with heads that hold in place magnetically. Instead of wiring each fitting into the ceiling, you position a head anywhere along the rail. That means you can add, move or re-aim heads after install, which suits spaces where the layout changes over time. Every fitting in our range is integrated LED, so there are no separate bulbs to replace, and all carry an IP20 rating for dry indoor rooms.

Alongside the magnetic system we also stock single-phase track heads such as the Zon spotlight, which run on a standard single-circuit rail. Both approaches share the same idea: a continuous track and movable heads, rather than fixed points across the ceiling.

Heads in the range: spotlights and globes

The range covers two main head shapes. Spotlights like the Rado and Plato throw a directional beam that suits accent and task light over a desk, worktop or artwork, and many heads in the range carry a wide beam angle. Globe heads such as the Luna give a softer, more ambient spread for general light. Wattages run from compact 5W and 6W heads through to 15W and 18W spotlights, so you can mix brighter accents with gentler fill light on the same rail.

Finishes are kept simple and largely monochrome: matt black is the most common, with white and a brass option in the Relax range. The bodies are metal and aluminium, which keeps the heads compact and in the small size band.

CCT, dimming and DALI control

Colour temperature is where the range gives you the most flexibility. Many heads are CCT-adjustable across 2700K to 6000K, letting you shift from a warm 2700K glow to a crisp 6000K daylight on the same fitting. If you prefer a fixed tone, single-temperature heads are offered at 3000K warm white and 4000K cool white. A number of heads are dimmable, and several Rado and Luna fittings add DALI control for integration with a wider lighting setup, including smart-home compatible options.

Where Maytoni track suits a room

Track works well where you want to light several points from one supply: a kitchen-diner, a study, a living room with art or shelving, or a commercial space. Run the rail along the line you want to light, then space the heads to match. Because every head adjusts, you can fine-tune the aim once furniture is in place. For planning longer runs and comparing rail systems more broadly, it is worth looking at our wider track lighting range as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Maytoni's magnetic and single-phase track?

A magnetic track is a rail where the heads hold on magnetically, so you can reposition them anywhere along the rail by hand. Single-phase track, such as the Zon spotlight in our range, is a separate rail type with its own dedicated heads. Both let you light several points from one supply, but the magnetic system makes moving and re-aiming heads quicker after install.

Are these track ceiling lights dimmable and can I change the colour temperature?

Many heads in the range are CCT-adjustable across 2700K to 6000K, so you can shift between warm white and cool daylight on the same fitting. Others are fixed at 3000K warm white or 4000K cool white. A number of heads are dimmable, and several Rado and Luna fittings add DALI control, with smart-home compatible options, so you can group and adjust them as part of a wider lighting setup.

Can I use these Maytoni track lights outdoors?

No. Every track ceiling light in our range carries an IP20 rating, which means it is built for dry indoor rooms only and is not protected against water or moisture. They suit living rooms, dining rooms, studies, bedrooms and commercial interiors. For covered porches, bathrooms or any damp or outdoor position you would need a fitting with a higher IP rating, which falls outside this range.

Do I need separate bulbs for these track heads?

No. Every head in this range is integrated LED, so the light source is built into the fitting rather than using a replaceable bulb. That keeps the heads compact and lets them sit in the small size band. You choose the colour temperature and wattage at the point of buying, with options from 5W and 6W heads up to 15W and 18W spotlights, rather than swapping bulbs later.

What is the delivery cost on Maytoni track ceiling lights?

UK delivery is £14.99, and we offer free UK delivery on orders of £99 and over. If something is not right, we accept returns within 14 days of delivery, with return postage paid by the customer and refunds made in line with our returns policy. Because the magnetic and single-phase heads in this range clip onto a track rather than wire in individually, it is worth planning your rail run and head spacing before ordering so you buy the right number of heads.
