Frequently Asked Questions

What does G80, G95 and G125 mean?

The number is the bulb diameter in millimetres, so G80 is 80mm across, G95 is 95mm and G125 is 125mm. Larger globes make more of a feature in open pendants and bare fittings, while the smaller G80 suits tighter shades and clustered lights.

Which globe bulbs can I dim?

Look for the bulbs labelled dimmable; we also stock non-dimmable versions of most shapes. Match a dimmable bulb with a compatible LED dimmer for smooth, flicker-free control. The gold filament 2200K bulbs dim down to a warm glow, which works well over dining tables and in living rooms.

What colour temperature should I pick?

2200K is a warm amber tone that flatters the visible filament, 3000K gives a soft warm white, and 4000K is a cooler, brighter neutral white. Warmer tones suit bedrooms and lounges; cooler ones are clearer for kitchens and workspaces.

Will a globe bulb fit my fitting?

Every globe bulb here uses the E27 screw cap, so check your fitting takes E27 first. Then allow room for the globe diameter, as the larger G125 needs more clearance inside a shade than a compact G80.
