LED Corn Bulbs

LED corn lamps pack a cluster of LEDs around a central column to throw out a lot of light from a single bulb. Our range covers E27 and E40 caps in 4000K cool white, built for high bays, floodlights, street lanterns and other large fittings where older high-wattage lamps once sat. We stock options from Knightsbridge to suit demanding spaces.

High-output retrofits for large fittings

Corn lamps earn their name from the rows of LEDs arranged around the body, which spread light in close to every direction rather than a single beam. That makes them a practical swap for the bulky high-wattage lamps found in warehouses, car parks, sports halls and outdoor lanterns. Our Knightsbridge range runs from compact 12W lamps up to a 54W unit rated at 6870 lumens, so you can match the output to the fitting rather than over- or under-lighting the space. Every lamp in our range is 4000K cool white, a neutral tone that keeps signage, stock and work areas clearly lit.

E27 and E40 caps

Cap choice comes down to the holder already fitted. E27 is the standard screw cap used across many commercial and domestic fittings, and most of our corn lamps use it. E40 is the larger Goliath screw cap built for industrial and exterior heads, and we stock corn lamps in this size for high-bay and lantern bodies that take it. Check the existing lamp or holder before ordering, as the two caps are not interchangeable without an adaptor.

Build and output

Some of these lamps use aluminium and polycarbonate bodies, with the metal helping to draw heat away from the LEDs across long running hours. Output spans from 1695 lumens on the 12W lamp through to 6870 lumens on the 54W version, with some sitting in the 1500 lumen-plus band. The 18W and 27W lamps cover the gap in between. As a rough guide, the smaller lamps in our range stand in for older 100W-equivalent fittings, while the higher-wattage corn lamps deliver far more light for larger fittings.

Dimming and fitting

The corn lamps we stock are non-dimmable, so they are best paired with a plain on/off switch rather than a dimmer circuit. Many large fittings are wired into fixed circuits or sit at height, so we would always recommend a qualified electrician for any work involving fixed wiring, access equipment or enclosed luminaires.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an LED corn bulb used for?

LED corn lamps are designed for large fittings that once held bulky high-wattage lamps, such as high bays, floodlights, car park heads and street lanterns. The LEDs sit in rows around a central column, spreading light in almost every direction rather than one beam. The range we stock is aimed at commercial and industrial spaces where a single high-output lamp needs to cover a wide area.

What is the difference between E27 and E40 corn lamps?

E27 is the standard 27mm screw cap found on many commercial and domestic fittings, and most of our corn lamps use it. E40 is the larger 40mm Goliath screw cap built for industrial and exterior heads. The two are not interchangeable on their own, so check the cap on the existing lamp or the holder in the fitting before you order, or you may need an adaptor.

Can I dim an LED corn bulb?

No. The corn lamps in our range are non-dimmable, so they should run on a plain on/off switch rather than a dimmer circuit. Fitting a non-dimmable lamp to a dimmer can cause flicker, buzzing or a shortened lamp life. If you need adjustable output in a space, look at a dimmable lamp type paired with a compatible control instead.

What colour of light do these corn lamps give?

Every corn lamp in our range is 4000K cool white. This is a neutral, daylight-leaning tone that sits between warm white and crisp daylight. It suits workspaces, warehouses, car parks and signage where clear, even light matters more than a cosy feel. Because the whole range shares the same colour temperature, lamps stay consistent when several are used together across one site.

How bright are the corn lamps you stock?

Output in our range runs from 1695 lumens on the 12W lamp up to 6870 lumens on the 54W lamp, with 18W and 27W options in between and some lamps in the 1500 lumen-plus band. Rather than picking the highest figure, match the lumen output to the size of the space and the fitting so the area is lit evenly without glare or dark patches.
