Description

The Zoom is an 85mm fixed round recessed downlight in white powder-coated cast aluminium, carrying an IP65 rating for full dust protection and water jet resistance. The fitting accepts a single GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately) and is designed for flush ceiling installation where the lamp sits completely recessed within the ceiling void, leaving only the white bezel and lens visible from below.

The IP65 certification makes the Zoom suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2, kitchen splashback areas, covered outdoor soffits and other locations where moisture or dust ingress would damage a standard downlight. The fixed round design provides directional illumination straight down, making it effective for task lighting over worktops, sinks, vanity units and paths, or as general ambient lighting when installed in a grid layout across a ceiling.

The cast aluminium body provides thermal management for GU10 halogen or LED bulbs, dissipating heat through the ceiling void to maintain bulb life and prevent overheating. The white powder coat is applied over the entire visible bezel, allowing the fitting to blend into white or light-coloured ceilings without creating a visual break in the surface plane. The recessed installation requires a ceiling void depth of at least 50mm to accommodate the fitting body behind the plasterboard.

The Zoom operates on 220-240V AC mains and requires a suitable driver or transformer if using low-voltage GU10 LEDs. The fitting is supplied with spring clips for tool-free installation into a pre-cut 85mm ceiling aperture, and the GU10 socket accepts twist-lock bulbs for quick replacement without needing to remove the entire fitting from the ceiling.

IP65 means the fitting is fully dust-sealed (IP6X) and protected against water jets from any direction (IPX5). This makes it suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2, kitchen areas near sinks and hobs, and covered outdoor locations like soffits and porches where rain may be driven against the fitting.

What ceiling void depth is required?

The fitting body projects 45mm above the ceiling line, so a minimum void depth of 50mm is needed for safe installation with clearance around the fitting. The 85mm diameter aperture must be cut into the plasterboard before the fitting is clipped into place.

What bulb should I use?

The fitting accepts any GU10 bulb up to 50W. Most users fit a 5-7W GU10 LED in warm white (2700K-3000K) for general lighting, or a higher-output 10W LED for task lighting over worktops. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is the light direction adjustable?
