Description

The Zelda is an 8-light chandelier built around a central column of five graduated brass spheres stacked from smallest at the canopy to largest at the base, with eight rectangular curved arms radiating from the bottom sphere. Each arm holds a tapered etched glass shade set into a polished brass hemisphere cup. The entire frame is finished in vintage brass, a hand-applied patina that gives depth and warmth to the metal without appearing overly polished.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, the Zelda provides substantial ambient light across a 4-5m room width. The 965mm arm span positions the eight E27 bulbs (sold separately) in a wide circle, distributing light evenly rather than concentrating it directly below the fitting. The drop is adjustable between 747mm minimum and 3747mm maximum on installation, allowing the chandelier to be set higher in rooms with standard ceiling heights or dropped lower over a dining table in double-height spaces.

The etched glass shades diffuse the light from each bulb, softening direct glare and turning each shade into a secondary light source. The stacked sphere column adds visual weight to the centre of the fitting, balancing the outward reach of the arms and preventing the chandelier from appearing too horizontal. The vintage brass finish shows subtle tonal variation across the spheres and arms, with warmer gold tones on raised surfaces and deeper bronze-like tones in recesses.

The Zelda is part of the Hinkley Lighting collection, an American manufacturer known for mid-century and transitional designs. This chandelier pairs well with warm-toned wood furniture, brass or bronze cabinet hardware, and interiors that mix traditional architectural detailing with mid-century furniture shapes.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Zelda take?

The chandelier requires eight E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Maximum 60W per socket. Most users choose warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to match the vintage brass finish and etched glass shades.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 747mm means the chandelier sits approximately 750mm below the ceiling rose when installed at its shortest. For a dining table, the fitting typically hangs 750-900mm above the table surface, requiring a ceiling height of 2.6m or above. Higher ceilings can accommodate a longer drop using the 3000mm chain provided.

Is the vintage brass finish solid or applied?

The vintage brass is a hand-applied patina finish over the metal frame, not solid brass throughout. This creates tonal variation across the spheres and arms, with warmer highlights and deeper bronze-like recesses that develop over time as the finish ages naturally.

Can the chandelier be installed on a sloped ceiling?

The Zelda is designed for flat ceilings. Installation on a sloped or vaulted ceiling may require a canopy adapter or swivel kit, which Hinkley offers separately for some models. Contact us before ordering if you need to confirm compatibility with a sloped ceiling installation.
