Description
The Windsor is a 3 light semi-flush ceiling light built around a wrought iron frame finished in graphite, with a cream glass bowl diffuser enclosed by decorative ironwork. Three E14 bulbs (sold separately) sit inside the glass bowl, casting soft ambient light through the cream glass while the surrounding metalwork adds shadow detail across the ceiling. The fitting projects approximately 300mm from the ceiling surface, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above.
Designed for hallways, bedrooms, dining rooms and sitting rooms where a traditional aesthetic is wanted without the drop length of a full chandelier, the Windsor pairs the decorative presence of a multi-light fitting with the compact ceiling clearance of a semi-flush mount. The graphite finish on the ironwork provides a darker, more contemporary alternative to polished brass or antique finishes, allowing the fitting to work in both traditional and modern-rustic interiors. The decorative scrollwork and crown-inspired detail give the fitting a defined character without overwhelming smaller rooms.
Hand-crafted in the UK by Elstead Lighting, the Windsor uses wrought iron formed and welded into the decorative frame, then finished in a matt graphite coating that resists fingerprints and shows minimal wear over time. The cream glass bowl is secured to the frame with a threaded collar, allowing it to be removed for cleaning or bulb replacement. The 3 light configuration provides sufficient ambient light for rooms up to 12-15 square metres when paired with 40W-equivalent LED bulbs at 2700K-3000K.
Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Windsor take?
The fitting takes three E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with candle-style LED bulbs at 4-6W equivalent to 25-40W incandescent, in warm white (2700K-3000K) to suit the traditional design.
Is it suitable for low ceilings?
Yes. The semi-flush design projects approximately 300mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above without feeling oppressive. Standard ceiling heights of 2.4m provide comfortable clearance.
Can the glass bowl be removed for cleaning?
Yes. The cream glass bowl is secured to the frame with a threaded collar that unscrews to allow the bowl to be removed for cleaning or bulb replacement. Take care when handling the glass to avoid dropping it.
