Voltis Square Frame 80mm - Black

The Voltis is an 80mm square recessed frame in black polycarbonate, designed to hold an adjustable light source, reflector and recessed ring as part of Ideal Lux's modular Voltis lighting system. The frame sits flush with the ceiling once installed, with an 86mm projection depth behind the ceiling plane to accommodate the light module and wiring. The black finish provides a defined edge around the light aperture, maintaining visual contrast against white or light-coloured ceilings.

Designed for directional accent lighting in hallways, corridors, retail displays and residential spaces where focused illumination is needed on specific features or surfaces, the Voltis frame accepts compatible Ideal Lux light modules (sold separately) that tilt and rotate within the frame. The 80mm aperture suits smaller areas where concentrated light is needed without overpowering the space. The modular design allows single frames to be installed individually or grouped in linear runs where multiple accent points are required along a wall or display shelf.

The polycarbonate construction provides impact resistance and dimensional stability across temperature changes, making the frame suitable for both conditioned indoor environments and slightly warmer ceiling voids where heat from the light module accumulates. The frame installs into a cut-out in plasterboard or acoustic tile ceilings using spring clips that grip the back of the ceiling material, so no additional support framework is required for typical residential ceiling thicknesses. What's included with the frame?

What ceiling depth is required?

The 86mm projection depth means you need at least 90mm of clear ceiling void behind the plasterboard or ceiling tile to accommodate the frame, light module and wiring. Standard UK residential ceiling voids typically provide 100-150mm clearance.

Can the light module be angled once installed?

Yes. Compatible Voltis light modules tilt and rotate within the frame aperture, allowing the beam to be directed onto artwork, architectural features or specific surfaces rather than straight down.

How is the frame fixed in place?

The frame uses spring clips that grip the back of the ceiling material once the frame is pushed into the cut-out. No additional support framework is needed for typical plasterboard or acoustic tile ceilings of 12-15mm thickness.
