Description

The Velvet is a compact square wall spotlight with a single adjustable LED head on a rounded square backplate, both finished in polished gold-plated metal. The integrated 3W LED inside the cylindrical head delivers 3000K warm white light through a frosted diffuser at the aperture, and the head pivots on a black joint that allows the beam to be angled up, down or sideways from the wall.

Designed for bedside reading positions, over desks, or as accent lighting for artwork and shelving, the Velvet sits 85mm proud of the wall when the head is angled forward. The 65mm square backplate covers standard UK back boxes and the fitting connects to mains wiring via a terminal block concealed behind the plate. The IP20 rating restricts the Velvet to dry indoor areas only — bedrooms, living rooms, studies and hallways where moisture levels remain low.

The polished gold finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs well with brass hardware, warm wood tones and traditional or contemporary interiors leaning towards warmer colour palettes. The black switch and joint give functional contrast without adding visual weight. The frosted diffuser softens the beam edge, avoiding harsh spotlighting while still providing directed task light. The 3W LED output is suited to close-range reading or accent work rather than general room illumination.

Ideal Lux manufactures the Velvet in Italy and backs it with a 5-year warranty. The integrated LED cannot be replaced, so the entire fitting is replaced at end of life. Typical LED lifespan is 25,000-30,000 hours, which translates to approximately 10 years of use at 8 hours per day.
