Description

The Knightsbridge Torlan is a 1828mm (6ft) non-corrosive batten with a 65W integrated SMD LED array delivering 8,900 lumens at 140lm/W efficiency. The fitting has selectable colour temperature switching between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K via internal DIP switches, and supports DALI dimming control when connected to a DALI-compliant lighting control system. The entire housing is constructed from anti-corrosive polycarbonate with an opal diffuser, and carries IP65 weatherproof and IK08 impact ratings.

Designed for industrial, commercial and outdoor environments where durability and longevity are required, the Torlan batten suits warehouses, car parks, covered loading bays, washdown areas, food processing facilities and external covered walkways. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, while the IK08 impact rating withstands mechanical impacts up to 5 joules. Surface mounting is standard, with optional BESA box and suspension mounting accessories available separately. The stainless steel diffuser clips resist corrosion in humid or coastal environments.

The DALI dimming protocol allows each batten to be individually addressed and controlled within a larger networked lighting system, supporting occupancy-based dimming and daylight harvesting strategies in commercial installations. The selectable CCT allows the installer to match the light colour to the application without stocking multiple product variants. The 150-degree beam angle provides wide-area light distribution suitable for general ambient lighting at ceiling heights of 3-6m. Rated L70B50 at 60,000 hours, the LED array is expected to maintain 70% of its initial lumen output for approximately 13.7 years at 12 hours per day operation.

The slimline 90mm x 90mm profile reduces visual bulk compared to traditional twin-tube fluorescent battens, while the polycarbonate construction weighs less than metal-bodied equivalents and does not require earthing as a Class I fitting. The grey finish integrates into industrial colour schemes without standing out. The fitting operates on 230V 50Hz mains and includes all electrical components — no separate ballast or driver installation is required.

How do I change the colour temperature?

Remove the diffuser to access the internal DIP switch panel on the driver housing. The switches allow selection between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 5700K daylight. The setting must be made before the fitting is powered on. Refer to the product datasheet for the exact switch positions.

Is the batten dimmable?

Yes, via DALI protocol. The fitting must be connected to a DALI-compliant lighting control system with a compatible DALI driver. Each batten can be individually addressed for occupancy-based dimming or daylight harvesting. It is not compatible with standard phase-cut dimmers.

Can it be used outdoors?

The IP65 rating protects against rain, dust and low-pressure water jets, making the batten suitable for covered outdoor locations such as canopies, loading bays and external walkways. It is not suitable for full submersion or uncovered exposure to driving rain over extended periods.

What mounting options are available?
