Description

The Tangier is a 365mm-tall outdoor pendant lantern with a crisscross frame in an olde bronze finish and clear seeded glass panels on all four sides. Suspended on a chain from a matching olde bronze canopy, the lantern houses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately) rated up to 60W. The IP44 rating protects the fitting against splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for covered porches, gazebos, front door canopies and carports.

Designed for installation where weather protection exists overhead, the Tangier provides both ambient and directional light through the clear glass panels. The 1620mm chain allows the drop to be adjusted on installation from a minimum of 447mm to a maximum of 2040mm, so the pendant can be set to suit ceiling heights between 2.4m and 4.5m. The 191mm width and depth give the lantern enough presence to anchor a porch corner or patio dining area without overwhelming smaller covered spaces.

The olde bronze finish is a dark aged-bronze tone with subtle brown and copper undertones that develops a weathered patina appearance over time when exposed to outdoor air. The crisscross frame creates diagonal shadows on surrounding surfaces when the bulb is lit, adding decorative pattern to walls and ceilings. The seeded glass introduces small bubbles and texture into each pane, softening the light output and giving the pendant a hand-blown appearance consistent with historic lantern design.

Can this be used outdoors without a roof?

No. The IP44 rating protects against splashing water but not sustained rainfall or direct exposure to weather. The Tangier must be installed under a porch roof, gazebo canopy, carport or similar overhead cover to prevent water ingress and to protect the finish from accelerated weathering.

What bulb does it take?

The Tangier takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to replicate the appearance of traditional lantern lighting.

How is the drop adjusted?

The 1620mm chain can be shortened during installation by removing links to achieve the desired drop between 447mm and 2040mm. Once installed, the drop is fixed unless the pendant is taken down and the chain re-adjusted.

Does the finish change over time?

The olde bronze finish may develop additional patina and subtle tonal shifts when exposed to outdoor air and temperature variation. This is a characteristic of bronze-toned outdoor finishes and adds to the aged appearance of the lantern over time.
