Description

The Spark is a 68W constant current LED driver delivering a fixed 1400mA output to LED fixtures, with 1-10V dimming control and IP20 environmental rating. The driver sits in a white plastic housing measuring 130mm long by 75mm wide, designed to fit inside ceiling voids, luminaire housings or behind fixed lighting installations where mains voltage needs to be converted to low-voltage DC for LED arrays.

Designed for commercial offices, retail displays, hospitality lighting and residential downlight installations requiring higher wattage loads, the Spark maintains constant current across its dimming range to prevent flicker and colour shift. The 1-10V dimming interface accepts control signals from compatible wall dimmers, lighting control panels or building automation systems, allowing brightness to be adjusted from full output down to approximately 10% without visible stepping or strobing.

The constant current regulation means the driver adjusts its output voltage automatically to maintain 1400mA regardless of the number of LEDs in series, provided the total load remains within the 68W capacity. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only — ceiling voids, cupboards above false ceilings, or within IP20-rated luminaire bodies. The plastic housing includes captive terminal blocks on both ends for mains input and low-voltage output, with push-fit cable entries that do not require conduit glands.

Frequently Asked

What is constant current and why does it matter?

Constant current drivers maintain a fixed current output (in this case 1400mA) regardless of voltage fluctuations or the number of LEDs in the circuit. This prevents brightness variation, flicker and colour shift, and protects LEDs from over-current damage. Constant current is the preferred drive method for most commercial LED installations.

Can this be used outdoors or in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the driver is not protected against moisture ingress and must be installed in dry indoor locations only. For bathroom zones or outdoor use, an IP65 or IP67-rated driver is required.

What 1-10V dimmers are compatible?

The Spark accepts any standard 1-10V analogue dimming signal, including wall-mounted rotary dimmers, slider panels, and building management system outputs that comply with the IEC 60929 Annex E.2 1-10V standard. The dimmer must be rated for LED loads and does not carry mains voltage on the dimming wires.

How many LED downlights can this power?

That depends on the current draw of each LED module. If each downlight draws 350mA, the 1400mA output can power four in series. If each draws 700mA, two in series. The total wattage must not exceed 68W and all LEDs must be wired in series for constant current operation.

Free worldwide delivery

Free worldwide delivery on all orders over £99. International orders for third-party brand products may be subject to an additional courier surcharge based on volumetric weight, particularly on larger lighting fixtures — if a surcharge applies, our team will email you with the amount before dispatch and you can proceed or cancel for a full refund. See full delivery terms.

Returns

30-day returns window from delivery. As all our products are electrical or lighting goods, returned items must be inspected and recertified by a qualified electrician before resale — the cost of this inspection (25–40% of the item value) is deducted from your refund. Customers pay return shipping. Made-to-order, special-order and clearance items cannot be returned. See full returns policy.
