Description

The Spark is a 32W constant current LED driver delivering 700mA output with 1-10V dimming control. The driver sits in a compact white plastic housing measuring 94mm x 67mm x 25mm (height), designed to fit into ceiling voids, light fittings and control panels where space is limited. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry indoor locations only.

Constant current drivers like the Spark maintain a fixed 700mA output regardless of voltage fluctuation, preventing flicker and ensuring consistent brightness from LED arrays and modules that require current regulation rather than voltage regulation. The 1-10V dimming interface accepts control signals from compatible dimmer switches and lighting control systems, allowing the output to be smoothly reduced from full brightness down to approximately 10% before the LEDs switch off.

The 32W output capacity suits mid-sized LED installations such as recessed downlight arrays of 4-8 fittings, LED strip runs up to 5 metres in residential settings, and small commercial display lighting where individual zones need independent dimming. The driver connects via push-fit terminal blocks on the underside of the housing, accepting mains input on one side and DC output to the LED load on the other.

Ideal Lux backs the Spark with a 5-year warranty. The plastic housing dissipates heat passively without a fan, so the driver runs silently. Installation requires connection to mains by a qualified electrician and compliance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.

Frequently Asked

What LED fittings is this driver compatible with?

The Spark drives any LED module, array or fixture that requires 700mA constant current input. Check the LED product datasheet for current requirements before pairing. The 32W capacity suits loads drawing up to approximately 45V at 700mA.

Does it work with standard dimmer switches?

No. The Spark requires a 1-10V dimming control signal, which is a different protocol from phase-cut (leading-edge or trailing-edge) dimmer switches. You need a 1-10V compatible controller or lighting control system to dim this driver.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means the driver is not protected against moisture ingress and must only be installed in dry indoor locations such as ceiling voids, cupboards or control enclosures.

What is constant current and why does it matter?

Constant current drivers regulate the electrical current (measured in milliamps) flowing to the LED rather than the voltage. Many LED modules and arrays require this type of regulation to prevent thermal runaway and ensure consistent brightness across the LED lifespan.

Shipping & Returns

Free worldwide delivery

Free worldwide delivery on all orders over £99. International orders for third-party brand products may be subject to an additional courier surcharge based on volumetric weight, particularly on larger lighting fixtures — if a surcharge applies, our team will email you with the amount before dispatch and you can proceed or cancel for a full refund. See full delivery terms.

Returns

30-day returns window from delivery. As all our products are electrical or lighting goods, returned items must be inspected and recertified by a qualified electrician before resale — the cost of this inspection (25–40% of the item value) is deducted from your refund. Customers pay return shipping. Made-to-order, special-order and clearance items cannot be returned. See full returns policy.
