Description

The Solana is a dual-function light fitting designed to work either as a wall light or as a semi-flush ceiling light. A spherical white acid-etched glass globe sits forward of a satin brass circular backplate, housing a single G9 bulb fitting behind the diffuser. The acid-etched finish softens and diffuses the light evenly through the glass, providing ambient illumination without glare or visible bulb filament.

The 100mm projection from wall or ceiling suits hallways, landings, bedroom walls beside mirrors or bedside areas, and compact bathrooms where a semi-flush ceiling fitting provides adequate light without intrusion. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor zones only. The dual-mount capability allows the same fitting to be specified for both wall and ceiling positions within the same property, giving visual consistency across different room layouts.

The satin brass backplate provides a warm metallic accent that contrasts with the cool white glass, making the fitting visually distinct when switched off while maintaining a neutral tone when lit. The 100mm diameter globe gives sufficient light spread for a 2-3m corridor or a 4-6m² bedroom without dominating the wall or ceiling plane. The G9 bulb fitting accepts LED capsule bulbs from 2W to 5W (bulb sold separately), and the fitting is dimmable when paired with compatible G9 LED bulbs and a suitable dimmer switch.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating restricts the Solana to dry indoor zones only. It cannot be installed within bathroom zones 1, 2 or 3 where moisture or direct water contact is possible. It can be used in a large bathroom outside the designated zones, typically more than 2.4m from a shower or bath.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a single G9 capsule bulb up to 5W LED (bulb sold separately). Most users pair this with a 3-4W warm white LED G9 capsule at 2700K-3000K for ambient hallway or bedroom lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, the fitting is dimmable when paired with a dimmable G9 LED bulb and a compatible LED dimmer switch. Not all G9 LEDs dim smoothly, so check the bulb specification before pairing with a dimmer.

How is it installed on a wall versus a ceiling?

The same backplate works for both wall and ceiling mounting. The electrical connection is made to the rear of the backplate, which is then fixed to the wall or ceiling surface with the supplied fixings. The glass globe attaches to the front of the backplate in the same way regardless of orientation.
