Description
The Solana is a 6-light wall or semi-flush ceiling fitting built around a satin brass horizontal bar that holds six opal white glass globes on short arms. Each globe houses a G9 bulb (sold separately), and the fixture can be mounted horizontally on a wall or flush against a ceiling depending on the room layout. The 490mm overall width suits single walls in hallways, above headboards in bedrooms, or centred on a low ceiling in a living room or bathroom.
The dual-mount capability makes the Solana useful in rooms where a central ceiling pendant would sit too low or where wall-mounted lighting provides better task or ambient coverage. On a ceiling, the 250mm projection from the surface gives clearance for taller users without requiring the headroom of a drop pendant. On a wall, the horizontal spread distributes light evenly across a 3-4m width, avoiding the single-point hot spot of a traditional sconce.
The satin brass finish on the frame softens reflections and pairs comfortably with both warm and cool-toned interiors, while the opal glass diffuses each bulb into a soft, even glow without glare. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations only — not suitable for bathrooms unless installed outside zones 0-2. The fixture is dimmable when paired with dimmable G9 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch.
Ideal Lux manufactures the Solana in Italy and backs it with a 5-year warranty. The glass globes are blown and acid-etched rather than moulded, giving each a slightly different surface texture when viewed up close. The combined metal frame and glass give the fitting a substantial presence on the wall without overwhelming a typical 2.4m ceiling height.

Frequently Asked
Does it come with bulbs?
No. The Solana requires six G9 bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair it with G9 LED bulbs between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for warm ambient light. Check bulb dimensions before purchase as some G9 LED bulbs are wider than traditional halogen capsules.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
The IP20 rating means it is not protected against moisture ingress and must be installed outside bathroom zones 0-2. In a larger bathroom it can be mounted on a wall well away from the shower or bath, but it is not suitable for installation directly above a sink or within the shower enclosure.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, when fitted with dimmable G9 bulbs and connected to a compatible dimmer switch. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulbs chosen — LED G9 bulbs typically require a trailing-edge dimmer rather than a traditional leading-edge dimmer designed for halogen.
How is it mounted — wall or ceiling?
Both. The backplate can be fixed to a wall or ceiling surface, and the horizontal bar extends outward from the fixing point. On a ceiling, the 250mm projection gives clearance below. On a wall, the bar runs parallel to the surface and the globes project forward by the same 250mm.
