Description

The Maytoni Slim is an 85mm round recessed downlight with a white cast aluminium body, a fixed GU10 lamp holder, and spring-loaded retention clips for ceiling mounting. The downlight sits 30mm deep into the ceiling void and presents a flush white bezel at ceiling level, with the lamp recessed behind the aperture to minimise glare.

Designed for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and commercial spaces where ceiling-flush lighting is needed without a projecting fitting, the Slim accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately). The fixed orientation means the light direction is set at installation and cannot be adjusted afterwards, making it suited to general ambient lighting rather than accent or task lighting. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor areas — not suitable for bathroom zones 1 or 2, or outdoor installation.

The white powder-coated aluminium body resists corrosion and provides a neutral finish that pairs with white, off-white and light-toned ceilings without visual contrast. The 85mm cutout diameter and 30mm insertion depth fit most plasterboard and suspended ceiling systems, with the spring clips gripping the ceiling material from behind once the fitting is pushed into place. Multiple Slim downlights can be spaced evenly across a ceiling to provide distributed ambient light in open-plan rooms or long corridors.

What bulb does it take?

The Slim takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in 3000K warm white for general ambient lighting.

Can the light direction be adjusted?

No. This is a fixed downlight — the lamp holder is oriented straight down and cannot be tilted or rotated once installed. For adjustable recessed lighting, look for tiltable or gimbal downlights in the Maytoni range.

What ceiling cutout size is needed?

The downlight requires an 85mm diameter cutout and 30mm minimum ceiling void depth. The spring clips grip the ceiling material from behind once the fitting is pushed into the cutout.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor areas only. It is not suitable for bathroom zones 1 or 2 (areas within 60cm of a bath or shower), or any outdoor installation. For bathroom zones, look for IP44 or IP65 rated downlights.
