Description

This Maytoni recessed downlight pairs a 126mm square white metal trim with a single GU10 fitting mounted inside a tiltable inner bezel. The tilt mechanism allows the lamp to be angled up to approximately 30 degrees from vertical, directing the beam onto artwork, shelving or architectural detail rather than straight down. The recessed installation sits flush with the ceiling plane, with only the square trim visible once fitted.

Designed for residential accent lighting and commercial display applications, the downlight works in living rooms where feature lighting is needed for wall-hung art or alcove shelving, in retail where products need directed spotlighting, and in hospitality where architectural features benefit from selective highlighting. The 126mm cutout fits standard ceiling void depths of 100mm or more, and the GU10 fitting accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately).

The white metal finish provides a neutral base that recedes visually into white or light-coloured ceilings, keeping attention on the lit subject rather than the fitting itself. The IP20 rating limits use to dry interior spaces — bathrooms, kitchens and outdoor soffits require higher IP-rated alternatives. The square trim measures 126mm on each edge with a depth of 72mm from the ceiling surface to the rear of the housing, so ceiling voids need clearance for both the housing depth and the bulb length.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does it take?

The downlight takes a single GU10 bulb up to 50W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit an LED GU10 between 5-7W and 3000K for accent lighting or 4000K for commercial display use.

What cutout size is needed?

The visible trim measures 126mm square. The cutout and ceiling void clearance requirements are detailed in the product manual linked in the Downloads tab — check this before cutting the ceiling.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means this downlight is suitable only for dry interior spaces. Bathrooms require IP44 or higher rated fittings depending on zone.

How much tilt does the inner bezel allow?

The inner bezel tilts approximately 30 degrees from vertical, allowing the beam to be directed at an angle rather than straight down. This is useful for highlighting wall-mounted features or creating wash lighting on vertical surfaces.
