Description

The Shimmer is a 90mm square recessed downlight with a white metal outer frame and a black baffle insert that recesses the GU10 bulb fitting into the ceiling cavity. The white frame sits flush with the ceiling surface once installed, creating minimal visual interruption across a white or light-coloured ceiling plane.

Designed for ceiling installation in living rooms, hallways, kitchens and bedrooms with ceiling void depths of at least 60mm, the Shimmer accepts any standard GU10 LED, halogen or low-energy bulb up to the maximum wattage rating (see Specification tab). The black baffle insert reduces glare by recessing the bulb aperture deeper into the ceiling and creates a defined edge to the light source. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible GU10 bulb and dimmer switch.

The metal construction provides rigidity during installation and longevity once fitted. The white powder-coated finish matches standard white ceiling paint tones and can be touched up with emulsion if needed during redecoration. The 47mm installation depth fits most UK residential ceiling voids without requiring additional headroom. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor areas only — it cannot be used in bathrooms or wet rooms.

The fitting is 47mm deep including the GU10 lampholder. A minimum ceiling void depth of 60mm is recommended to allow for the fitting, the bulb itself and adequate ventilation around the lampholder.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmable, but the final dimming performance depends on the GU10 bulb you fit and the dimmer switch controlling the circuit. Use a dimmable GU10 LED bulb paired with a compatible LED dimmer switch for reliable dimming.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture ingress and must only be installed in dry indoor areas. For bathrooms, look for downlights rated IP44 or higher.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard GU10 twist-and-lock bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a GU10 LED bulb between 4-7W and 3000K-4000K for general room lighting.
