Description

The Shade-2 is a 140mm diameter pendant light from Ideal Lux, pairing a smoked blown glass shade with a matt black cylindrical canopy and suspension cable. The integrated LED inside the glass casts 3000K warm white light through the smoked glass, softening the output and creating a warm glow rather than direct downlight.

Designed for kitchen islands, breakfast bars and dining tables, the Shade-2 works as a single pendant above a small table or in a row of two or three above a longer worktop or island. The 2000mm PVC-sheathed cable allows the pendant to be set at the appropriate height during installation, typically 700-900mm above a worktop depending on ceiling height. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations.

The smoked glass shade has a tapered bell profile approximately 335mm tall from canopy to bottom rim, with the glass itself blown into vertical ribs that catch and refract the light as it passes through. The matt black powder-coated canopy sits flush against the ceiling rose, concealing the cable entry point. The non-dimmable LED is fixed at 3000K, providing consistent warm white output without requiring separate bulb changes.

Yes. The Shade-2 is commonly installed in rows of two or three above kitchen islands or dining tables. Each pendant requires its own ceiling rose connection point, spaced evenly across the length of the surface below.

What's the difference between clear glass and smoked glass?

Smoked glass reduces glare and creates a warmer, more diffused light compared to clear glass, which produces sharper shadows and brighter direct output. The smoked finish also hides the internal LED module from view when the light is off.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the pendant is rated for dry indoor use only and should not be installed in bathrooms or other locations where moisture or splashing is present.
