Description
The Salamanca is an outdoor wall light with a cast aluminium body finished in bronze powder coat, a cylindrical frosted glass shade and an E27 bulb fitting rated up to 60W. The fitting carries an IP44 rating, protecting against splashes from any direction, which makes it suitable for covered porches, doorways and patio walls where direct rain exposure is limited.
The lantern-style construction uses die-cast aluminium for the main body and top canopy, with horizontal banding around the glass cylinder and a bracket arm that projects 17.7cm from the wall. The bronze finish is powder-coated for corrosion resistance in outdoor conditions, and the frosted glass diffuses the bulb to reduce glare while casting ambient light downwards and outwards. The fitting works on front porches, rear patios, garage entries and garden pathways where a traditional outdoor light aesthetic is preferred over modern minimalist styles.
The 31.5cm height and lantern proportions suit standard door heights and work alongside brick, render, timber cladding and stone finishes without overwhelming smaller elevations. The E27 fitting accepts LED, filament or halogen bulbs up to 60W, allowing control over colour temperature and brightness depending on whether the light is used for security, task lighting or decorative accent. The wide voltage range (AC 100-240V) means the fitting works across international installations without requiring a transformer.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 protects against splashes from any direction but not direct jets or submersion. The Salamanca is suitable for covered porches, doorways and patio walls where the fitting is shielded from direct overhead rain by an overhang or canopy. It should not be installed in fully exposed positions where driving rain hits the fitting directly.
What bulb does it take?
The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for a traditional outdoor light appearance.
How far does the bracket project from the wall?
The bracket arm projects 17.7cm from the wall to the centre of the lantern body. This gives clearance for the glass cylinder and ensures the light casts outwards from the wall rather than washing straight down the face of the building.
Is the bronze finish resistant to weathering?
The bronze powder coat provides corrosion resistance in typical UK outdoor conditions. Over time, exposure to UV and moisture may cause minor fading or patina development, which is common with outdoor metalwork and adds to the aged character of the finish.
