Description
The Rove-5 is a concrete pendant light with a 205mm diameter dome shade cast from grey concrete, suspended on a 2m black fabric cable. A single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately) sits inside the dome, directing light downward through the open base while the concrete mass absorbs and softens the upward spill.
Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and task areas where downward light is needed, the Rove-5 works individually over a breakfast bar or in multiples spaced 600-800mm apart over longer work surfaces. The 2m cable allows the pendant to be shortened on installation to suit ceiling heights from 2.4m upward, with the shade typically hung 600-800mm above the surface it lights. The IP20 rating limits it to dry indoor areas.
The concrete shade weighs approximately 1.8kg and shows the raw texture of the cast, including small air pockets and tonal variation across the surface where the mix settled differently during moulding. This textural inconsistency is characteristic of cast concrete rather than a defect. The grey tone pairs with both warm and cool interiors, and the matte surface absorbs light rather than reflecting it, keeping the fixture visually recessive despite its material weight.
Manufactured by Ideal Lux in Italy, the Rove-5 carries a 5-year warranty and is dimmable when paired with a compatible E27 dimmable LED bulb and appropriate dimmer switch.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Rove-5 take?
The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for task lighting over kitchen islands or dining tables.
Is the Rove-5 dimmable?
Yes, when fitted with a dimmable E27 LED bulb and paired with a compatible dimmer switch. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulb and dimmer combination, so check both components support dimming before installation.
Does the concrete vary between individual pendants?
Yes. Each concrete shade is individually cast, so small air pockets, surface texture and slight tonal variation differ between pieces. This is a characteristic of cast concrete rather than a defect.
Can the cable length be adjusted?
The 2m cable can be shortened during installation by looping excess cable inside the ceiling rose or canopy. Once the pendant is hung at the desired height, the excess cable is concealed above the ceiling line.
