Description

The Riverwood is a 317mm outdoor wall lantern combining a weathered zinc finish with a clear seeded glass cylinder housed in a metal cage frame. The lantern takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) and carries an IP44 rating, making it suitable for covered exterior locations including porches, patios, entrance canopies and garden outbuildings.

Designed for residential exterior installations where downward and outward light distribution is needed, the Riverwood mounts to external masonry or timber cladding and projects 194mm from the wall. The seeded glass diffuses light through the trapped air bubbles in the glass, softening the bulb filament or LED source while the cage frame prevents direct contact with the glass. The weathered zinc finish provides a grey-brown patina that mimics aged galvanised metal exposed to coastal air.

The frame construction uses die-cast aluminium components with a textured powder coat over the weathered zinc base finish, giving corrosion resistance in damp UK climates. The wall plate measures 172mm wide and uses two mounting screws (fixings not supplied). The glass cylinder sits within a two-part cage that unclips for bulb changes without removing the entire fitting from the wall. IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashed from any direction. This makes the Riverwood suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, canopies and eaves where it will not be exposed to direct sustained rainfall, but is not rated for fully exposed positions with no overhead cover.

What bulb should be used?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Most installations use a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to provide ambient exterior lighting without excessive glare through the seeded glass.

How is the glass accessed for bulb changes?

The metal cage frame unclips in two halves, allowing the seeded glass cylinder to be removed and the bulb accessed without detaching the wall plate or rewiring the fitting.

Does the weathered zinc finish change over time?

The weathered zinc finish is a factory-applied powder coat designed to mimic aged metal. It will not continue to patina further under normal UK outdoor conditions, though prolonged exposure to salt air in coastal locations may gradually dull the surface sheen.
