The RekorHD RHD8KB4G is an 8-channel analogue CCTV kit built around a 1TB DVR recorder and four 2MP bullet cameras with IP66 weatherproof housings. The DVR supports up to eight cameras total, allowing expansion with four additional cameras when needed. Each camera records at 1080p resolution with 30m infrared night vision range and a 3.6mm fixed lens providing approximately 80° horizontal field of view.

Designed for residential and light commercial surveillance, the kit suits properties needing perimeter coverage around driveways, garden boundaries, outbuildings and side passages. The DVR uses H.265 video compression to fit more footage onto the 1TB hard drive compared to older H.264 systems, typically storing 10-14 days of continuous recording from all four cameras depending on motion activity. Perimeter intrusion detection and line crossing detection reduce false alerts from passing wildlife or shadows by defining specific zones and virtual tripwires.

The system runs on 12V power supplies included in the kit, with pre-terminated cables simplifying installation. Remote monitoring works via the RekorHD mobile app for Android and iOS, or through a web browser on PC and Mac. The DVR allows simultaneous playback, live viewing and recording, so reviewing archived footage does not interrupt current recording. USB backup transfers evidence clips to a flash drive without needing to remove the internal hard drive.

The grey camera housings blend into concrete, render and UPVC fascias more discreetly than white or black alternatives. The bullet form factor mounts to walls, soffits or junction boxes with an adjustable bracket that tilts and rotates the camera into position before being locked down. Can the system be expanded with more cameras?

Yes. The DVR has eight channels total, so four additional 2MP analogue cameras can be added. Additional cameras, power supplies and cabling are sold separately.

How long does the 1TB hard drive record for?

With H.265 compression and all four cameras recording continuously at 1080p, the 1TB drive typically stores 10-14 days of footage. Motion-only recording extends this significantly. The exact duration depends on scene complexity and motion activity.

What is the night vision range?

Each camera has infrared LEDs providing 30m night vision range in total darkness. Actual effective range depends on ambient light, camera angle and the reflectivity of surfaces being monitored.

Is professional installation required?

The kit includes pre-terminated cables and 12V power supplies, so a competent DIY installer can complete the installation. For ceiling mounts, cable routing through walls, or rack mounting the DVR, professional installation may be preferred.
