Description

The Photonix is a compact IP44-rated ceiling light with a matt black aluminium base and a white opal glass diffuser. The 90mm diameter makes it one of the smallest flush-mount fittings in Ideal Lux's catalogue, designed for tight spaces where a standard ceiling light would visually overwhelm — corridor sections, WCs, small bathrooms, entrance porches and walk-in wardrobes.

The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, making it safe for use in areas exposed to occasional water spray. The single E27 bulb fitting accepts any standard LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately), and the fitting is compatible with most mains dimmers when paired with a dimmable bulb. The matt black powder-coated aluminium base sits close to the ceiling surface with minimal projection, while the white opal glass diffuser spreads light evenly without harsh shadows or glare.

The Photonix's compact footprint suits low ceilings where larger flush-mounts would visually intrude, and the matt black finish pairs comfortably with industrial, Scandi-minimalist and contemporary interiors using dark metalwork accents. Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating makes the Photonix safe for bathroom zones 2 and 3, which means it can be installed at least 60cm from a shower head or bath edge. It is not rated for zone 1 (directly above a bath or inside a shower enclosure).

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. For bathroom use, a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K provides ample light without excessive brightness in a small space.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is compatible with dimming, but the bulb must also be dimmable. Pair the Photonix with a dimmable LED and a compatible mains dimmer to control brightness.

How is the glass diffuser cleaned?

The white opal glass diffuser unclips from the aluminium base for cleaning. Wipe with a damp microfibre cloth and mild detergent, rinse with clean water, and dry before re-fitting.
