Description

The Phostis is a dual-mount light fitting with a vertical black metal bar and a white blown glass sphere, designed to sit either flat against a ceiling or project from a wall. The 333mm-tall bar mounts on a concealed circular backplate, with the 120mm-diameter opal glass globe positioned at the centre of the frame. A single G9 bulb inside the globe (sold separately) diffuses through the blown glass, casting soft ambient light in a 180° spread from the wall or downward from the ceiling.

Designed for hallways, landings, bathrooms (IP20-rated dry zones only), and bedrooms where a compact fitting is needed that can be oriented vertically or horizontally depending on the mounting surface. When wall-mounted, the light sits flush with the wall and projects 120mm into the room; when ceiling-mounted, the 333mm bar runs parallel to the surface with the globe hanging below the backplate. The black powder-coated metal contrasts cleanly with the opal white glass and suits monochrome, industrial and contemporary interiors.

The glass sphere is held in place by black metal fixings that screw through the top and bottom of the globe, keeping it aligned with the vertical bar. The metal frame is pre-wired for UK mains and the backplate fits standard ceiling roses or wall-mounted junction boxes. The G9 lampholder accepts capsule bulbs up to 40W halogen or LED equivalent, with dimmer compatibility dependent on the specific G9 bulb chosen.

Yes. The backplate can be fixed to either surface. On a wall, the 333mm bar runs vertically with the globe at the centre; on a ceiling, the bar runs parallel to the surface with the globe positioned below the backplate.

The fitting takes a single G9 capsule bulb up to 40W halogen or LED equivalent. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 3-5W G9 LED in 2700K-3000K for ambient light.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmer-compatible. Whether the light dims smoothly depends on the specific G9 bulb chosen — not all G9 LEDs dim without flickering. Check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before pairing with a dimmer switch.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating means it can only be used in dry zones of a bathroom, at least 600mm away from showers, baths and basins. It is not suitable for zones 0, 1 or 2 where water spray or splashing is present.
