Description

The Phostis is a 750mm diameter semi-flush ceiling light built around a large white metal canopy from which hundreds of smoked glass spheres cascade on fine metal wires, creating a dense cloud of reflective beads below the ceiling. An integrated 61W LED module inside the canopy casts 3000K warm white light through the spheres, which catch and refract the light across the room. The fixture sits approximately 200mm below the ceiling line, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above.

Designed for large living rooms, dining areas and entrance halls where both ambient light and decorative presence are needed, the Phostis provides diffused illumination without requiring recessed fittings or major structural work. The semi-flush mounting means the fitting installs to a standard ceiling rose or junction box, with the canopy concealing the electrical connection. The 750mm diameter covers a significant ceiling area, so the fixture works best in rooms of 20-30m² or larger where the scale is proportional to the space.

Each smoked glass sphere is suspended on a separate wire at a different drop length, creating an irregular cascading effect rather than a uniform curtain. The density of spheres increases towards the centre of the canopy, giving the fixture a focal point directly below the ceiling rose. The white metal canopy provides a clean contrast against both white and coloured ceilings, while the smoked glass spheres soften the overall appearance compared to clear or chrome alternatives. The integrated LED is dimmable when paired with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer, allowing the light level to be adjusted from full output down to a low ambient glow.

The IP20 rating limits the Phostis to dry indoor locations. The fixture carries a 5-year manufacturer warranty from Ideal Lux, covering both the LED module and the construction.
