Description

The Philadelphia is a 640mm outdoor wall light with three E14 candle fittings housed behind champagne-tinted hand-blown glass, set within a cast-metal frame finished in old bronze patina. The frame carries shell-and-scroll detailing across the crown, shoulder and base, with a flame-topped finial above the lid. The wall bracket extends 310mm from the wall on a scrolled arm that curves down and back up to support the lantern body.

Designed for larger exterior walls on period, Georgian and Victorian-style properties, the Philadelphia suits front entrances, porch sides, and gateway pillars where a substantial fitting is needed to match the architectural scale. The IP44 rating protects against splashing water and solid particles above 1mm, making the fitting suitable for covered porches, under eaves, and other sheltered outdoor positions. The three E14 bulbs (sold separately) provide upward and downward light distribution through the blown glass.

The old bronze patina finish shows tonal variation between darker bronze and lighter copper tones across the cast detailing, giving the appearance of aged metalwork. The champagne-tinted glass softens the light output and reduces glare from exposed bulbs, while the hand-blown construction creates subtle ripples and thickness variation in the glass that become visible when lit. The 260mm width and 310mm projection give the fitting a substantial presence without overwhelming door surrounds or narrow wall sections.

The IP44 rating protects against splashing water and solid particles, making the fitting suitable for covered porches, under eaves and other sheltered positions. It is not rated for fully exposed locations subject to driving rain or direct water jets.

How is it mounted to the wall?

The fitting mounts via a backplate fixed to the wall with screws and plugs (supplied). The electrical connection is made behind the backplate before the main lantern body is attached. The 310mm projection means the fitting needs to clear door swings and other obstructions.
