Description

The Opus is a round outdoor wall light cast from painted die-cast aluminium in a black finish, with dual transparent Pyrex glass diffusers that direct light upwards and downwards from a single G9 bulb (sold separately). The IP54 rating protects the internal fitting from dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for sheltered outdoor locations such as porches, covered terraces, and under eaves.

Designed for bi-directional accent lighting rather than area illumination, the Opus mounts to exterior walls with a 110mm circular projection and 110mm diameter footprint. The dual diffusers create two defined pools of light — one washing upwards to highlight architectural detail or brickwork, one washing downwards to mark steps, pathways or doorways. The 5mm thick Pyrex glass resists thermal shock from rapid temperature changes and provides better impact resistance than standard float glass.

The black powder-coated aluminium finish resists UV degradation and corrosion in typical UK coastal and urban environments. The fixture weighs approximately 0.6kg and fixes to standard masonry or rendered walls with two screws through a rear mounting plate (fixings not supplied). The G9 bulb holder accepts halogen or LED capsule bulbs up to the fixture's rated wattage, allowing choice between 2700K warm white or 4000K cool white depending on the application.

IP54 indicates protection against dust ingress (IP5X) and splashing water from any direction (IPX4). The Opus is suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, under eaves, and sheltered terraces, but not for direct exposure to heavy rain or direct hose-down cleaning.

What bulb does it take?

The fixture takes one G9 capsule bulb (sold separately). G9 LED bulbs are recommended for outdoor use as they generate less heat than halogen equivalents and typically last 15,000-25,000 hours. Check the Specification tab for the maximum wattage rating.

Does light shine upwards and downwards?

Yes. The dual Pyrex glass diffusers direct light both upwards and downwards from the single G9 bulb, creating two pools of light on the wall above and below the fitting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the G9 bulb installed. LED G9 bulbs must be marked as dimmable and paired with a compatible trailing-edge or universal dimmer. Halogen G9 bulbs are inherently dimmable with standard dimmers.
