Description
The Nest is a 356mm wall light built around a cylindrical frame of criss-crossing metal straps finished in silver gold leaf, enclosing an opal white glass cylinder with a painted linen texture. The metal straps form a diagonal lattice pattern around the glass, creating a cage-like structure that filters and diffuses light through the gaps between the metalwork. The light takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), with the opal linen glass softening the output into ambient wash light that casts shadow patterns from the lattice onto adjacent walls.
Designed for hallways, living room accent walls, bedroom zones and bathroom vanity areas (though not IP-rated for wet zones), the Nest works as a single fitting to frame a mirror or artwork, or in pairs flanking a doorway or either side of a bed headboard. The 127mm projection from the wall gives enough depth for the lattice to cast defined shadow lines without protruding far into the room. The silver gold leaf finish sits between polished brass and antique gold — a soft, aged metallic tone that pairs with warm-toned interiors, natural wood and stone finishes, and neutral colour schemes.
The opal glass has a visible linen texture painted onto its surface, giving a fabric-like appearance when unlit and diffusing the light into a softer, warmer output than plain opal glass when the bulb is on. The combined glass and metalwork sit within top and bottom metal bands that attach to the wall bracket, forming a self-contained cylindrical unit. The Hinkley Nest collection includes pendant, flush-mount and multi-light versions of the same lattice-and-linen design for coordinated lighting schemes across a room or property.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Nest take?
The fitting takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb at 2700K-3000K for ambient hallway or bedroom lighting, or a dimmable LED if fitted to a dimmer circuit.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
The Nest carries no IP rating, so it is not rated for wet zones (zones 0-2) in UK bathrooms. It can be used in zone 3 (more than 600mm from a bath or shower) or in well-ventilated bathrooms where steam exposure is minimal, but is better suited to hallways, bedrooms and living areas.
What is the silver gold leaf finish?
Silver gold leaf is a soft, aged metallic finish that sits between polished brass and antique gold in tone. It has a subtle patina that reduces reflections and pairs well with natural wood, stone and warm neutral colour schemes. The finish is applied to the metal lattice straps that form the cage around the glass.
Is the linen effect on the glass or the shade?
The linen texture is painted onto the surface of the opal glass cylinder itself, not a separate fabric shade. This gives the glass a textile-like appearance when unlit and a softer, warmer light output when the bulb is on, compared to plain opal glass.
