Description
The Muse is a 135mm square concrete downlight with a cast grey concrete body and a black painted metal gimbal housing a single GU10 bulb fitting. The concrete casting shows surface speckling and air pockets characteristic of the poured material, giving each fitting a slightly different surface texture. The GU10 lamp holder tilts and rotates within the metal ring, allowing the light beam to be angled across a room or onto a feature wall rather than pointing straight down.
Designed for surface mounting on ceilings where recessing into the ceiling void is not possible or preferred, the Muse suits loft conversions, concrete ceilings, rooms with shallow ceiling voids, and installations where the fitting itself is part of the interior scheme. The adjustable head makes it useful in galleries, reading corners, above kitchen worktops, or in hallways where light needs to be directed onto a specific area. The square footprint of 135mm x 135mm gives a more architectural presence than circular downlights and pairs with grid-based ceiling layouts.
The concrete body weighs approximately 1.2kg and fixes to the ceiling with screws through two mounting points on the metal base plate. The natural grey tone of the concrete works across industrial, Scandinavian, brutalist and contemporary interiors without the need for additional surface finishes. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations — it cannot be used in bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor applications. The GU10 bulb is sold separately, allowing you to choose between warm white, daylight or dimmable LED options depending on the room.

Frequently Asked
Is the Muse dimmable?
The fitting itself is dimmable-compatible. Whether it dims in practice depends on the GU10 bulb you fit — use a dimmable GU10 LED paired with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Non-dimmable GU10 bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail if used with a dimmer.
What bulb does it take and is one included?
The Muse takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a GU10 LED between 4-7W, which provides equivalent light output to a 35-50W halogen while consuming less power and generating less heat.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable only for dry indoor locations. It cannot be used in bathrooms, wet rooms, kitchens directly above sinks, or any outdoor application.
How is the concrete maintained?
Concrete is porous and will mark if exposed to moisture or oils. Dust with a dry soft brush or microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but do not soak the concrete or use chemical cleaners. The surface will naturally darken slightly over time as dust settles into the texture.
