Description

The Maytoni twin tilt recessed downlight houses two GU10 bulb fittings in a 245mm x 126mm rectangular metal frame finished in white. Each lamp holder sits within a black metal gimbal ring that tilts independently across approximately 30 degrees of arc, allowing the light beam to be directed across different zones of the ceiling cavity without moving the fixture itself.

Designed for recessed installation in residential and commercial ceilings, the downlight fits a standard ceiling void and sits flush once installed, leaving only the white trim and the two black gimbal rings visible from below. The dual-lamp configuration provides concentrated light output suitable for task lighting in kitchens, accent lighting in retail settings, or general illumination in hallways and commercial spaces where focused downlighting is preferred over diffuse ceiling fixtures.

The white powder-coated metal frame measures 72mm deep from trim to ceiling cut-out base, requiring a minimum ceiling void depth to accommodate the fitting and any GU10 bulbs installed. Each fitting accepts GU10 bulbs up to 50W (sold separately), though most installations now use LED GU10 equivalents in the 4-7W range to reduce heat and running costs. The IP20 rating restricts this downlight to dry indoor locations away from bathrooms and shower rooms.

The independent tilt on each lamp holder means the two beams can be directed to different focal points — one might light a worktop while the other washes a vertical surface, or both can converge to intensify illumination over a specific area. The black gimbal rings provide visual contrast against the white trim, making the beam direction readable at a glance and adding definition to the rectangular aperture.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does this downlight take?

Each fitting takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users install LED GU10 bulbs in the 4-7W range with a warm white (2700K-3000K) colour temperature for residential settings, or cool white (4000K) for commercial applications.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means this downlight is not protected against moisture ingress and must be installed in dry indoor locations only. For bathroom use, look for downlights rated IP44 or higher.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The fitting itself is 72mm deep, but you must also account for the length of the GU10 bulbs installed. Most GU10 LED bulbs add another 50-60mm, so a minimum ceiling void depth of 130mm is recommended for safe installation with adequate ventilation clearance.

How far can each light tilt?

Each GU10 fitting sits in a gimbal ring that tilts approximately 30 degrees from vertical in any direction. The two fittings tilt independently, allowing the beams to be directed to different focal points or converged on the same area depending on the lighting requirement.
