Description

The Maytoni twin GU10 recessed downlight houses two independently tilting GU10 lamp holders within a black rectangular frame measuring 245mm x 126mm. Each lamp holder rotates within its circular gimbal, allowing the two light sources to be aimed in different directions from a single ceiling aperture.

Designed for commercial and residential settings where directional control from a single fitting is needed, the twin configuration suits retail display lighting, gallery spaces, kitchen task lighting above worktops, and home office desks where separate zones need different light directions. The 72mm recessed depth fits standard ceiling voids and false ceilings. The black metal frame sits flush with the ceiling plane once installed, with only the two gimbal rings and lamp apertures visible from below.

Each lamp holder accepts a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W (bulbs sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or other GU10 formats depending on the required colour temperature, beam angle and lumen output. The IP20 rating limits use to dry interior locations. The metal construction and matte black powder-coat finish provide durability in high-use environments and pair with contemporary, industrial and monochrome interior schemes.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does it take?

The downlight takes two GU10 bulbs, each rated up to 50W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit LED GU10 bulbs between 5-7W for energy efficiency, choosing beam angles between 36° and 60° depending on whether accent or general lighting is needed.

Can each lamp be aimed independently?

Yes. Each GU10 lamp holder sits within its own circular gimbal that tilts independently of the other, allowing one lamp to be aimed at a wall and the other at a worktop, or both aimed in the same direction for concentrated light output.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The fitting requires a minimum 72mm ceiling void depth to accommodate the recessed body. The rectangular frame measures 245mm x 126mm, so the ceiling aperture cut-out must be slightly smaller to allow the frame flange to sit on the ceiling surface.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating limits this downlight to dry interior locations only. It is not rated for use in bathrooms, shower rooms, or any location where moisture or steam is present.
