The Mars is a small table lamp pairing a smoked blown glass globe with a polished chrome conical base. The 175mm-diameter glass sphere sits on a narrow chrome cone, giving the lamp a sculptural, almost trophy-like profile. A single E27 bulb inside the globe (sold separately) casts light through the smoked glass, which diffuses the beam into a softer ambient glow with a grey tonal wash.

Designed for bedside tables, compact desks, shelves and side tables where space is limited, the Mars delivers enough ambient light for reading or close-range task work without needing ceiling wiring. The smoked glass finish softens the light output compared to clear glass, making the lamp comfortable to have on in the eyeline on a bedside table or low shelf. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations.

The chrome base and smoked glass combination suits contemporary, industrial and mid-century interiors where reflective metal finishes and tonal glass are already present. The polished chrome shows fingerprints and will need occasional cleaning with a soft cloth. The blown glass globe is smooth on the outside with a slight taper towards the base where it meets the chrome cone, giving the lamp a handmade rather than mass-moulded appearance. What bulb does it take?

The Mars takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb at 2700K-3000K for ambient bedside or desk lighting. The smoked glass softens the light output, so a slightly higher wattage than you'd use in clear glass may be preferred.

Is it dimmable?

The lamp itself is not dimmable. If you need dimming function, use a dimmable E27 LED bulb and a compatible plug-in dimmer on the mains lead, or wire the lamp into a wall-switched dimmer circuit during installation.

How is the glass cleaned?

Wipe the smoked glass globe with a dry microfibre cloth. For fingerprints or marks on the inside, you may need to remove the globe from the base — check that the bulb is cool and the lamp is unplugged first. The polished chrome base can be wiped with a soft cloth to remove fingerprints and dust.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means the lamp is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It is not weatherproof and should not be used in bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor settings.
