Description

The Malvern is a dual-direction outdoor wall lantern with two GU10 lamp holders mounted in a cast aluminium housing finished in matt black. One bulb directs light upward, the other downward, creating a symmetrical wash of light on the wall surface above and below the fitting. Both GU10 bulbs are included: 8W LED at 3000K colour temperature.

Designed for residential entrance porches, garage sides, patio walls and garden perimeter lighting where both upward architectural accent and downward path illumination are needed from a single fitting. The IP44 rating protects against rain and splashing but requires the fitting to be mounted under an overhang or eave rather than fully exposed to weather. The 129mm projection from the wall and 92mm width suit standard UK brick coursing and allow clearance for typical door swing paths.

The cast aluminium construction gives the fitting durability in coastal and urban environments where ferrous metals corrode quickly. The matt black finish is applied as a powder coat over the aluminium, providing UV stability and resistance to chalking. Decorative banding at the top, middle and base of the lantern gives the fitting a classical profile without over-ornamentation. The fitting wires as Class 1 earthed and mounts to a standard outdoor back box with two fixing screws concealed behind the canopy plate.

Can this be used in fully exposed locations?

The IP44 rating protects against rain splashing from any direction but the fitting is best mounted under an overhang, eave or porch canopy rather than on a fully open wall. Prolonged direct rainfall exposure is not recommended.

Are the bulbs replaceable?

Yes. Both GU10 lamp holders accept standard GU10 bulbs up to 8W. The included 8W 3000K LEDs are replaceable with any GU10 LED or halogen bulb within the wattage limit.

What colour is the light output?

The included LEDs emit warm white light at 3000K colour temperature, similar to a traditional halogen bulb. This gives a welcoming tone suitable for residential entrance and patio lighting.

How is the fitting wired?

The Malvern wires as Class 1 earthed to a standard outdoor back box. The canopy plate conceals the fixing screws once the fitting is mounted. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in compliance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
