Description

The MagPro addressable sounder strobe base is a multi-function mounting base that combines ceiling fixing, detector mounting, audible alarm and visual strobe signalling in a single 100mm-diameter unit. Designed for use with ESP MagPro addressable detector heads (MAGPRO-SD1 smoke detector, MAGPRO-HD1 heat detector, MAGPRO-HSD1 combined heat and smoke detector), the base allows a single ceiling point to provide both detection and alarm signalling without needing separate sounder or strobe devices.

Used in commercial fire alarm installations where BS 5839-1 requires both audible and visual alarm devices, the base fits standard UK fire alarm loop wiring and mounts to a ceiling back box or surface mount box using the four screw points on the white plastic housing. The detector head twists onto the base and locks into place, with the green connector terminal block handling the addressable loop connection. When the fire panel activates the alarm, the base drives both the internal sounder and the strobe visible around the perimeter of the base.

The white thermoplastic housing measures 100mm in diameter and projects approximately 40mm from the ceiling when fitted with a detector head on top. The sounder produces the required alarm tone at the volume and pattern commanded by the addressable fire panel, while the strobe provides the visual warning required in noisy environments, for hearing-impaired occupants, or where BS 5839-1 mandates visual alarm devices. The 150g net weight of the base alone makes it light enough to mount on plasterboard ceilings with appropriate fixings.

The base is compatible with three ESP MagPro addressable detector heads: MAGPRO-SD1 (smoke detector), MAGPRO-HD1 (heat detector), and MAGPRO-HSD1 (combined heat and smoke detector). The detector head twists onto the base and locks into position.

Does the base need separate power for the sounder and strobe?

No. The base draws power from the addressable fire alarm loop via the green terminal block visible in the base. The fire panel controls when the sounder and strobe activate based on the alarm condition and zone programming.

Can the sounder volume be adjusted?

The sounder volume and tone pattern are controlled by the addressable fire alarm panel, not by settings on the base itself. The panel programming determines the output characteristics based on the alarm stage and building requirements.
