Description

The LYYT 12V amber LED strip is a 5m reel of SMD3528 LEDs delivering warm amber light at 60 LEDs per metre, supplied as a complete kit with a 12V 2A power adaptor, UK plug and connection leads. The strip runs at low voltage (12Vdc) and draws 4.08W per metre, giving a total consumption of approximately 20W for the full 5m length.

Designed for accent lighting in residential, vehicle and event installations, the strip carries an IP65 rating for dust and water splash resistance, making it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, under-cabinet lighting and sheltered outdoor use. The strip is cuttable at marked 5cm intervals, allowing it to be trimmed to exact lengths without waste, and a self-adhesive backing on the reverse allows direct mounting to clean, dry surfaces without clips or channels.

The amber LEDs produce approximately 6 lumens per LED with a 130-150° beam angle, creating a wide wash of warm amber light rather than focused spot illumination. The silicone protective coating over the LED strip provides the IP65 rating while remaining flexible enough to bend around corners and curves during installation. At 8.15mm wide and 2.76mm thick, the strip fits into narrow recesses and under furniture lips where traditional lighting cannot reach.

The kit includes a UK mains plug, a 12V transformer adaptor, and connection leads totalling 2.4m in length (1.2m from plug to adaptor, 1.2m from adaptor to DC connector), giving flexibility in positioning the power supply away from the strip installation. The LEDs are rated for up to 25,000 hours of operation, equivalent to approximately 10 years of typical daily use at 7 hours per day.

Can the strip be cut to custom lengths?

Yes. The strip is marked with cut points every 5cm along its length. Cut only at these marked points to maintain correct electrical connection. Cutting between marked intervals will damage the circuit and void the warranty.

Is the strip dimmable?

The strip operates at fixed brightness when connected to the supplied 12V power adaptor. Dimming requires an inline 12V LED dimmer (sold separately) installed between the power supply and the strip.

Can it be used outdoors?

The IP65 rating provides protection against dust and water splashes, making the strip suitable for sheltered outdoor locations such as under eaves, in covered patios, or inside outdoor kitchens. It is not rated for full submersion or direct exposure to heavy rain.

How is the strip installed?

Peel the protective backing from the adhesive reverse side of the strip and press firmly onto a clean, dry, smooth surface. The adhesive works best on non-porous materials such as metal, glass, sealed wood and painted surfaces. Porous or textured surfaces may require additional mounting clips or aluminium channel (sold separately).
