Description

The Lyria is a 50cm spherical pendant light with a white glass globe diffuser, suspended on adjustable steel cables from a white metal ceiling rose. The sphere is made from blown glass that has been acid-etched to produce an even, translucent white finish, turning the entire globe into a diffuser when the E27 bulb inside is lit.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.7m or higher, the Lyria provides both ambient and decorative light. The 2150mm cable length is fully adjustable on installation, allowing the sphere to hang 700-900mm above a dining table or lower in double-height entrance spaces. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations away from bathrooms and outdoor exposure.

The 50cm diameter makes the Lyria a centrepiece fitting rather than a background light, working best in open-plan living areas, over dining tables of 1.6m or longer, or in hallways where the ceiling height allows the sphere to hang clear of head height. The acid-etched glass softens the light source completely, avoiding glare from the bulb while creating a floating orb effect when viewed from any angle. The white metal canopy and cables blend into white or light-coloured ceilings without visual interruption.

Is the Lyria dimmable?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable E27 bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself is dimmer-compatible, but non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim even when fitted to a dimmer circuit.

What bulb does it take?

The Lyria takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W LED bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) to fill the 50cm sphere without creating excessive brightness or heat inside the glass.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 2150mm cable allows the sphere to hang low enough for dining tables in rooms with 2.7m ceilings, or much lower in double-height entrance halls. For typical dining use, the bottom of the sphere sits 700-800mm above the table surface to avoid obstructing sightlines while providing direct downlight.

Can the glass be cleaned?

Yes. The acid-etched finish can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and distilled water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, which may damage the etched surface. For deeper cleaning, the sphere can be removed by disconnecting the bulb holder and lifting the glass off the cable suspension point.
